I am happy to share that I have started a new position as a Young ResearcherS Fellow at the University for Foreigners of Siena.
My new research, PAAST, funded by the NextGeneration European Commission programme through the Ministero Istruzione, Universita’ e Ricerca, explores the bodily experiences of Roman imperialism in the rural areas of the Mediterranean between the 3rd century BCE and the 5th century CE, with a focus on Sardinia.
I am grateful to everyone at Università per Stranieri di Siena who supported me during the application process. I am thrilled and proud to join a university and a rector, Tomaso Montanari, who believe that research is profoundly political, have consistently shown solidarity with those facing systemic injustice — including people under apartheid, migrants, women, and the queer community — and chose to reject silence, criticising those who facilitate the violation of rights. I will do my best to uphold that standard.
Last but not least, after four years in Venice, I feel extremely lucky to experience life in another gem like Siena.
